Restoration Castle de Haar (click on the photo for an larger picture)

The restoration of De Haar Castle is carried out in phases. Here you see the Dove’s Tower. A this moment the scaffolding is already taken down and the restored walls and red and white painted shutters are visible again.

Here you see work being carried out on the south side of the castle in 2008. The woodwork, the brickwork and the roof were being restored. This phase has finished in 2009.

2008: The main entrance and the Prison Tower with scaffolding. The stairs were restored in 2007.

A spectacular view of the recently restored Rose garden and Box parterre from the top of the scaffolding.

The painters work for months at high altitudes to restore the woodwork and paint.

The crests of armour of the Van Zuylen family are clearly visible on the freshly painted corridor.

All the roofs are fitted with new slates.

The medieval brickwork is carved out by hand so they can point the bricks again.

After months of research, the original colours of the Baroness’s Room are finally known. The restorers are repainting the room in it’s original colours.

Here you see a restorer at work in the bathroom of the Baroness’s Room.

2008: The scaffolding in the Main Hall, seen from the Billiard Room. The scaffolding is 100 square meters.

The scaffolding in the Main Hall was put up to restore the stained glass windows in the roof. In the Summer of 2010 this scaffolding was replaced by a new scaffolding to restore the cracks in the wall and to do all the paintwork.
